Remote Desktop Won't Redirect USB or Network Printer

Make any printer print in Remote Desktop

In remote desktop the only printer port that is able to redirect is the LPT port if you try and print with IP_XXXXXX, USB, etc. it won’t redirect.

Share your printer on the client machine (make sure you name the share "printer" under share name). Now create a new printer with lpt2 port and with the drivers of the printer then name it remote.

Then install the printer drivers of your client printer on the remote computer (server).

Next on Client machine
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
3. Type net use lpt2 \\pcname\printer /persistent:yes, and then press ENTER.

Where pcname = your computers name.
Where printer = the name of your printer share.

Now when you connect to the remote computer (Server) you should see the printer named remote. print from it and it should print to your hp laser.
