SOLVED!!! Virus set all my files to hidden

ENTIRE DRIVE

1. Go to Start, Run, type cmd

2. Dos command prompt will open, type cd\

3. Now type the drive letter in which you want to Unhide the files lets suppose in my case its C: this will open the C: drive

4. If you want to see all hidden files and folders  ~  type C:\>dir/ah

5. Now type attrib *. -h -s /s /d

6. Now close cmd using exit command


FOLDER BY FOLDER

1. Go to Start, Run, type cmd

2. Dos command prompt will open type cd\

3. Now type the drive letter in which you want to Unhide the files lets suppose in my case its C: this will open the C: drive

4. If you want to see all hidden files and folders  ~  type C:\>dir/ah (*you will now see the files/folders with hidden attributes )

5. Type “attrib [name of file/folder] -r -a -s -h” if you’re going to unhide files, you should type the whole name plus the extension (example: attrib banner.psd -r -a -s -h)

6. Now check you  drive.. it should be there

Now stay away from those free things and sites.  It is not really free when you have to fix your PC or your data or identity is stolen.

FREE IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE WORD IN THE DICTIONARY.

How to make sure you have the latest drivers

What could happen if you don't check AND update your drivers? Your machine could face the following consequences:

• Devices become less functional or stop functioning
• Conflicts with new software and/or hardware
• PC crashes in extreme cases
• Reduced system stability

Justa reminder...XP and Vista's End of Life

Windows XP Service Pack 2 will no longer be supported as of July 13, 2010. Many customers are still on this version so we encourage upgrading to Service Pack 3 or to Windows 7 as soon as possible.

Windows Vista RTM will no longer be supported as of April 13, 2010. Service Pack 1 will still be supported until July 12, 2011 but we recommend customers update to Service Pack 2 or Windows 7 at this time.

1. Go to http://servicesales.sel.sony.com.
2. Enter your computer's model number (for example, PCV-XXXX), and click Search. You will be given a list to choice from. Select your model.
3. Follow the online instructions to order the Recovery Media Kit.

Speed Up Network Browsing

How to speed Up Network Browsing
Great information from Bob Cerelli's windows page:
"1. Remove current shortcuts in My Network Places
2. Change the registry so shared folders on remote computers are not automatically added to My Network Places when you even open a document from that shared folder
Start Regedit
Create a DWORD value:
HKEY_Current_User \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer \ NoRecentDocsNetHood to 1.
I have also seen setting the following help as well.HKEY_Current_User \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer \ UseDesktopIniCache to 1.
Download Reg file to do both
3. Increase the amount of data is buffered at one time to send to a client. On the computer with the shared directory:
Start Regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
Create a DWORD Key called SizReqBuf
Give it a value of Hex FFFF
Download Reg file"
