New Yahoo? How to change back to classic.

I have had several people complaining that the new Yahoo Mail is terrible, boring and hard to read and separate. Just like the new Microsoft is boring and monochrome. It feels like T2 is not far off. 

This is how you go back to classic.

Does your mail look like this?

You can go back to classic by going to the upper right corner of and clicking on the gear icon.
It looks like this.

Go to Viewing Email then choose the basic setting under Mail Version and save.

Now if you have issues with it not going back to your classic theme and your using internet explorer then make sure you add that site to your compatibility list like I did with this client. See the difference below.

QuickBooks Printing issues fixed. From emailing forms to printing deposit slips this tool may very well be what you need.

PDF Repair Utility. Intuit has combined the separate versions into one installation package – you will be asked to select the year of QuickBooks you are working with. It is a little messy, as it leaves some files on your desktop, but that isn’t too big of a deal.


You may have a problem with access permissions to the “temp” folder in Windows. To fix this:

1. Press the Windows key + R to open the RUN command.
2. Type %TEMP% and press Enter.
3. Right-click an empty area of the temp folder, and choose Properties.
4. Make sure that all usernames and groups showing on the Security tab have Full Control.
5. Once the permissions have been set to Full Control, try saving as PDF again within QuickBooks.

Java is not enabled in the web browser. If Java is already installed but applets do not work, you may need to enable Java through your web browser.

Please follow these instructions to enable Java though your Web browser.

Browsers for Windows

Internet Explorer

1. Click Tools and then Internet Options
2. Select the Security tab, and select the Custom Level button
3. Scroll down to Scripting of Java applets
4. Make sure the Enable radio button is checked
5. Click OK to save your preference

Chrome

1. Enter about:plugins in the search field.
2. Scan for Java and check whether Java is enabled (if the Disable link appears, Java is already enabled)
3. Click on the Enable link (if available)
4. (Optional) Check the Always allowed box to stop additional Chrome warnings when running Java content

Browsers for Windows and Mac OS X

Firefox

1. Start Mozilla Firefox browser or restart it if it is already running
2. At the top of the browser, select the Firefox button (or Tools menu in Windows XP), then Add-ons
   The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
3. In the Add-ons Manager tab, select Plugins
4. Click Java (TM) Platform plugin to select it
5. Click on the Enable button (if the button says Disable, Java is already enabled)

Safari

1. Launch Safari browser
2. Click on Safari and select Preferences
3. Click on the Securitytab
4. Check (select) Enable Java check box
5. Close Safari Preferences window

Opera 4.x and Up

1. Opera for Windows does not use Java, but an embedded version already inside the Opera Web browser.
2. Opera for other platforms may supports Java . Please consult your Opera platform documentation.

Can't email from QuickBooks in Windows 7

Try this:

1. Right click on your Quickbooks startup exe file and open properties. 2. On the compatibility tab select compatibility mode and run this program in compatibility mode for Windows Vista (Service Pack 2).
3. On privilege level check "Run this program as administrator". Press Apply/OK to close properties.
4. Start - Devices and Printers - add a printer - add a local printer - create a new port - local port and name it QBD_PDF.
5. Choose to install AMYUNI Technologies - Amyuni Document Converter 300 (click windows update button if it is not on your list).
6. If windows detects you already have a driver then choose to replace current driver. Name the printer Quickbooks PDF Converter - do not share printer - do NOT set as default printer. Finish
7. Start - Devices and Printers - Right click your QB printer, choose Printer - Properties and go to the advanced tab.
8. Remove any check marks in the 4 items with square boxes next to them (bottom part of screen) then select "Print directly to the printer" Hit OK to close the window.
9. Restart you computer and open Quickbooks. Open File - Printer Setup and make sure Quickbooks PDF Converter is the selected printer for any PDF operation you use    frequently. (on rare occasions you may not see the Quickbooks PDF Converter on the list, reboot again and you will get it).

You can now perform PDF operations in Quickbooks (works for 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 RC)

Since this is an ongoing issue and many have submitted on this topic... Outlook 2010 is an issue with some as well...

As an option until this is fixed, install cutepdf (it's free).

This will allow you to print to this driver (cutepdf) to create a pdf file that can then be emailed as needed.

Getting text message on phone and email

A client recently go a new Samsung Galaxy S4. I set up his exchange email account, which is through office 365. We noticed that he was receiving text messages on his phone as well as his email.

On the phone:

Open e-mail inbox go to settings, you will see your email address here with a tick
Press it and scroll down to "More Settings"
Scroll to "Sync SMS" and untick it.

Windows 8, Quickbooks won't email or print

Oh you naughty Windows 8, just another thing I don't like about you.

I have had MANY calls on this issue. This is an issue with even the latest 2013 versions of Quickbooks.  I have not found a fix for the email button but working on it. I have found fixes and work arounds for printing and creating pdfs.

Here are some of the most common issues that I have had to deal with and their work around and fixes:

Unable to reconcile accounts or to create, print, or email .pdf files

Repair damaged print settings - QBPrint.qbp file is the culprit here

Having issues with Internet Explorer?  Make sure your not running the 64-bit version and if so change it so the 32-bit is your default browser.

Check default settings 

There are other issues that could be causing this as well. Such as a pop-up blocker, flash or java corrupt or in need of updating, browser needs to be reset to default settings, add-ons disabled or compatibility issues.

Although there are many benefits to running IE 64 bit it doesn't always play well with others.

Benefits of 64-bit IE:
A: There are a few advantages to using the 64-bit version:
•Security: DEP/NX is always on for 64bit processes. (Of course, on Vista SP1+, 32bit IE8+ has DEP/NX enabled by default too.)
•Security: Memory protections like ASLR are more effective (because the address space is dramatically larger)
•Security: Most bad guys only bother to write x86 shellcode, which will fail in an x64 process
•It may crash less. (Because most add-ons don't load in 64bit IE, it tends to be more reliable.)
•It may be faster to start up. (Because most add-ons aren't loaded. You can disable add-ons in 32bit IE if you'd like)

If resetting the browser to the default settings doesn't fix this, Try deleting the cert8.db file.

Open Firefox, Help, Troubleshooting Information, Show Folder under Application Basics, folder will open, keep this open, close Firefox, delete the cert8.db file, open firefox and it will recreate this file and should fix your issues with "This Connection is Untrusted"
